Through color I strive to capture the effect of light; that ever changing, living envelope. I paint from life, be it landscapes en plein air, the still-life in direct sunlight or the figure in the studio. I search for the unique combinations of color, shapes and edges that are present in each new situation.
Alfredo Tofanelli-(b. 1957), is a native of northern California who received his degree from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. He established himself as an illustrator and graphic designer in the Los Angeles area before returning north to San Francisco. Alfredo held a faculty position at Otis Parsons Art Institute, teaching courses in life drawing, figure painting and computer graphics. In the Bay Area he worked as an Art Director at The 3DO Company and Electronic Arts. He currently teaches head and figure painting at l' Atelier aux Couleurs: the Art Academy in Petaluma, California.
