Carol Brightman Johnson

Biography:
Carol Brightman Johnson studies the light and other important features of a region while painting. She has a deep affection for her native New England where she often paints farms and woodlands. An abiding interest in the American West also takes Carol to Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, and California. Her plein air painting of “The Old Jensen Cabin” in Cody was chosen by Southwest Art magazine for the grand-prize in Wyoming Plein Air 2008.

Carol Brightman Johnson painted at the following Plein Air Festivals in 2008: Carmel, CA; Cheyenne, WY; Escalante, UT, and San Luis Obispo, CA, and is to date, juried into Carmel and Wyoming for 2009. The Cheyenne, Carmel and San Luis Obispo festivals end with a “quick draw” – a timed event where nearly three dozen artists work in a designated area to paint, frame, and present a piece for immediate live auction.

Carol is a signature member of Paint America. Her painting “Morning at Paria View,” executed entirely on site at Bryce Canyon, was chosen for Paint the Parks Mini Top 50, 2007. Two of her studio pieces (one Grand Canyon, and one Yellowstone) are touring the U.S. with Paint the Parks Top 100. Two previous works of Bryce Canyon traveled with Paint America’s Mini Top 50, 2006.
